Create Your Outdoor Sanctuary for Summer

For Glenn Meader, the founder/owner of Good Life New England, one of the best ways to rebalance after a long work week is being in nature. So when his clients are seeking ways to experience relaxation at their homes, he and his design team excel at creating outside oases. “Everyone has their brain constantly connected these days,” says Meader. “So to have outdoor spaces at your own home that are comfortable and outfitted with conveniences is a great way to find your calm.”

The stunning outdoor kitchens from Good Life New England begin in the same way as their interior rooms—with excellent space planning. “It’s where things are made or broken,” says Meader, who feels that a good designer will find the flow and know how to take advantage of proximity to views. “We tie in with landscape architecture to add to our strengths and create an overall outdoor design.”

People love outdoor spaces that are fully operational entertainment centers, so Good Life New England designs exterior kitchens utilizing Wolf grills and Sub-Zero beverage drawers and under counter refrigerators. “These appliances are beautiful and functionally accessible in the outside spaces people come home to after the hustle and bustle of life,” he says. “Sub-Zero and Wolf do that better than anyone else.”

Whether it is having a spot for grilling and drinking your favorite cold beverage, or finding a place for the hammock where you can enjoy a Saturday afternoon nap, or mapping out a little manageable herb garden, Meader thinks everyone should have something that gets them outside. “Clear your mind from all the craziness and just enjoy.”
