Get ready for Dog-tober!

Get ready for Dog-tober!  It’s a great time of year for you and your pup to enjoy the Seaport. From pet-friendly hotels to pooch-loving restaurants our seaside neighborhood is a perfect place for Fido or Fifi to enjoy alongside their favorite human. If you’ve come to visit the Seaport from afar, there are several hotels that welcome pets, including the Seaport Hotel, Element Boston Seaport by Westin, Aloft Boston Seaport, and the Envoy Hotel. Check with each for their specific pet fees and regulations.

Strolling with your dog is always a pleasure along the harbor, but two dedicated dog parks make it easy to socialize. The Channel Center Dog Park on West 1st Street is a good neighborhood spot for off-leash fun. Sea Green at 21 Stillings Street includes a dog park and lawn. And if you need someone for dog walking duty, Urban Hound dog care offers a Seaport dog walking route as well as pick-up and drop-off services.

Once play time is over, everyone will be hungry, so it’s great to know which Seaport restaurants will allow you to bring your (well-behaved) dogs along with you. Take advantage while the weather is still nice enough to visit Legal Harborside, which accommodates dogs at their ground level HarborWalk patio seating. For more casual breakfast or lunch, Pete’s Dockside on Channel Street has dog-friendly picnic tables and Tamo Bar also provides seasonal outdoor seating, with space for your furry friend.

To kick off the canine-centric month of October, Harpoon Brewery at 306 Northern Avenue will host Dogtoberfest on Sunday, September 30. All dog lovers and their pets can join a run/walk, enter costume contests, enjoy kibble and nibbles and (for homo sapiens only) Harpoon and UFO beers. Proceeds will benefit the Kenary Brain Tumor Research Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. For tickets and more information: www.harpoondogtoberfest.splashthat.com/
