Lee’s Saltine Cracker Brickle

Follow this easy recipe for Saltine Cracker Brickle and you’ll have a hit dish for your next party. Clarke Showroom Consultant Lee Maida makes this simple sweet treat at the beginning of the holiday season and freezes any extra pieces for future snacking and sharing.

Saltine Cracker Brickle

2 sticks of butter
¾ cup sugar
¼ lb salted saltines (one sleeve)
1 12-ounce bag of milk chocolate morsels
1 cup chopped walnuts (or whatever you like)

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Line cookie sheet with non-stick foil. Place crackers on foil in even layer.
3. In a pan, melt butter on low heat. Add sugar and heat until syrupy.
4. When all the sugar is dissolved and the mixture has a fairly thick consistency, pour mixture over crackers.
5. Place in oven for 6-8 minutes, or until golden brown.
6. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on crackers. When chocolate begins to melt, spread it quickly and evenly. Sprinkle nuts over chocolate.
7. When cool, seal with aluminum foil and put in freezer for one hour.
8. Break into pieces and store your pieces in a container in the refrigerator.
