Stay Afloat on Boston Harbor

Boston Harbor has a delightful array of on-the-water accommodations—and we mean on the water. From a simple cabin cruiser to a complete floating bed and breakfast, you can choose every kind of vessel to be your home for the night, while getting a mariner’s view of our spectacular Seaport.

Since 2005, Sleep Afloat has been offering a varied selection of options for the “live-aboard” experience. The vacation rental agency leases a fleet of floating homes in three United States locations, including Boston. With names like Houseboat Sweet Caroline and M/V Patriot their six boats fit right into the New England vibe. “Our vessels are at the private dock of the exclusive Lewis Wharf in the North End,” says Sleep Afloat’s rental team, “where you’re in walking distance to everything cool in Boston.”

If you’d like some breakfast with your berth, try the Green Turtle, a floating bed and breakfast with an expansive view of the Boston skyline and breakfast delivered to your door each morning. The Green Turtle offers three boat choices: two 40-plus foot motor yachts and a houseboat with two private suites.  According to owner Jon Dolence and his wife Karen, their houseboat and yachts were designed for comfort and the only reminder you are floating in Boston Harbor is “the sound of the gulls, slight motion of the sea and the reflection of the ocean dancing on the ceiling.”

Finally, you can do your own research on Vacation Rental By Owner and discover several other options for a night or two on the water. Whichever you chose, this is definitely the time of year to ditch the car and join the ranks of Boston’s happy houseboat population.
